Elevate 2024: Showcasing our robust entrance control systems for leisure facilities

Businesses working across the health and fitness industry are gearing up for Elevate 2024, the UK’s largest trade show dedicated to fitness, sport, and physical activity.

Taking place at ExCeL in London on 12 and 13 June, we will be among the exhibitors with our Fastlane turnstiles offering. Supporting our premier installation and integration partners – Alternative Systems Protection (ASP) – we’ll be showcasing our cutting-edge entrance security solutions tailored for leisure facilities and gyms.

At the forefront of our showcase will be two of our newest products: the Glassgate 150 Plus and Glassgate 250 Plus. These are part of our highly acclaimed Speedgate range of entrance control turnstiles and each will be adorned with a special livery for the event. Secure entrance control systems with member experience in mind

Owners and managers of leisure organisations, including gyms and swimming pools, have a requirement to protect their members, facilities and profits. But, it is vital that in the delivery of these requirements that ease of access for all paying members and visitors is not compromised.

We understand the importance of achieving a robust and impenetrable entrance and access control system that promotes a positive experience for members and visitors; our turnstiles are designed with this specifically in mind.

We understand the key considerations when it comes to entrance and access control at leisure facilities. This includes the need for equal access for all users – accommodating space for sports wheelchairs, for example – plus the need for insight into facilities use, monitoring footfall, and – particularly in 24-hour gyms with skeleton or no staff at times – robust systems to prevent tailgating. Aesthetics is important too, with our entrance control units designed to be pleasing to the eye.

Case study: University of Birmingham’s Sport and Fitness Centre

An example of how we work with our partners, ASP, to deliver these systems includes this project at the University of Birmingham’s Sport and Fitness centre.

The Sport and Fitness Centre, accommodating a membership surge from 6,000 to 13,000 since its inception, required intricate access management due to diverse user profiles including students, staff, and local residents. We facilitated this complexity by controlling access to various areas based on membership privileges while integrating with Gladstone leisure management software. Beyond entry control, the centre used data collected by the system to optimise centre use, offering tailored memberships and managing traffic flow efficiently.

The low power consumption of our system also complemented the centre’s eco-friendly stance. Read the full case study here.
