IDL team fun day

Problem solving as standard during fun day out

Working in the security industry means we’re dealing with serious issues every day, but that doesn’t mean we don’t like to have fun. Sometimes you just have to blow off a little steam!

We’ve done a few different things in the past including skiing trips and fun runs so this time we decided to take on the Krypton Maze. For those of you not old enough to remember, The Krypton Factor was a game show on ITV where contestants competed in a series of rounds that tested their physical stamina and mental attributes. Overachievers we are, one TV series wasn’t enough, so we went for the option that combined this with The Crystal Maze.

As a company full of problem solvers, that’s definitely our idea of a fun day out …..!

So off we went, to the Runnymede Hotel in Surrey for a day packed full of challenges. Teams rotate around a series of corporate problem solving games designed to challenge mental, physical, observation, teamwork and communication skills. These had some great names, including Nordic Challenge, Castle Build, Target Golf and Inflatable Basketball. Rocket Launch had to be one that we all high hopes for but, have to admit, we were a little alarmed by the idea of Axe Throwing …..

With everyone divided into teams, competition hotted up as you can see below. Hats weren’t fashion accessories but were to indicate the teams!

Points were accumulated throughout the day, and it was a very close run competition, with the winning team being Tony Smith, Cathy Jervis, Colin Hewitt, Richard Wheeler, Pat Walsh and Greg Brown.
