With extensive global experience of the security industry, and a portfolio of market-leading functional and beautiful turnstiles to work with, our sales team are in the best position to offer you and your business support when it comes to improving your pedestrian access security, helping your staff to feel safer in their working environments.
Unlike many of our competitors, we don’t sell direct to end users. Instead, we work closely with our network of preferred integrators and installers to support architects and contractors in specifying, designing and installing pedestrian access control systems which provide the required level of security coupled with aesthetic appeal. It’s the reliability of our products, their sleek styling and the support from our sales team throughout a project’s lifecycle that sees our customers return time and time again.
Many members of our sales team have been at IDL for a number of years, so the likelihood is that you’ve met them at some of the trade shows we exhibit at annually, spoken to them over the phone or even visited our showroom in Feltham, near Heathrow airport in West London, for a private demonstration of our products. As these face-to-face activities are on hold for now, we wanted to remind you of the people behind your next project.
Tony Smith – Major Accounts and Marketing Manager

Tony joined IDL in 2009 to manage the business relationships with IDL’s strategic partners in North America and the Far East, as well as overseeing major accounts in other regions. Tony has many years of experience in the industry gained with access control, cashless payment and smart card manufacturers. Outside of work, classic cars are a passion and he is a keen global traveller, often found sailing and snowboarding in the destinations he visits.
Phil Allen – Regional Sales Manager, UK (Outside M25) and Ireland

Phil has been with IDL since 2008 and has sales responsibility for the UK outside of the M25 ring road around London. Phil has extensive experience of the security industry gained over 19 years and has helped our customers with many notable projects, including G Casino, University of Birmingham and Sheffield Diamond University. Outside of work Phil enjoys films, sports, reading and supporting his favourite football team, Tottenham Hotspur.
John Austin – Regional Sales Manager, London (Inside M25)

John has been with IDL for over 10 years and has over 17 years’ experience in the security industry, mainly gained with manufacturers, drawing on his strengths gained from an engineering degree. In his spare time, John is lead singer and guitarist in a rock band and can often be found pursuing his passion for following and participating in high octane motor sports.
Alan Hardy – Sales Manager EMEA

Alan joined IDL in November of 2019 and is responsible for developing IDL’s sales strategies and operations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He has worked in the security sector for more than 20 years and has a wealth of experience in the development and implementation of sales strategies geared towards achieving sustained growth across EMEA. Previously working with integrated access control products at TDSi and Remsdaq, Alan has experience of tailoring strategies to align with local market requirements, with the objective of maximising profitable sales revenue. In his spare time he enjoys staying active and can often be found cycling.
Alex Wilkins, Sales Office and Marketing Assistant

Alex joined IDL in 2004 and looks after internal sales including order processing, maintenance agreements and spare part orders. He also assists with marketing and website administration. He has a keen interest in live rock and metal music as well as films and can be usually found in the cinema watching the latest releases or attending live gigs. Alex has a variety of animals including Cats, Persian Jirds, Gerbils and an African Pygmy Hedgehog, some of which have been known to star in IDL’s annual Christmas cards and newsletters.
