Huddersfield New College enhances entrance security with Fastlane Glassgate 400
Used by hundreds of students and staff each day, the main entrance at Huddersfield New College in Yorkshire required an entrance control solution capable of managing heavy pedestrian traffic while maintaining the college’s modern aesthetic.
Working in partnership with Integrated Design Limited (IDL), Bridge Door Systems Ltd (BDS) designed and installed a bespoke system using the Fastlane Glassgate 400, providing a secure, reliable and visually appealing entrance control solution.

Combining robust security with modern design
Approached by a local architect, the BDS team was tasked with designing and costing a system that would deliver robust performance and smooth integration with the college’s existing access control and fire alarm systems.
The solution also needed to provide Equality Act (EA) and DDA-compliant access, feature full-height glass barriers for enhanced security, and complement the open, contemporary design of the main entrance.
After assessing the college’s specific requirements, BDS identified IDL’s Fastlane Glassgate 400 as the ideal choice. A four-lane configuration was installed at the main entrance, complete with a floor protector system that allows cable access without altering the existing flooring. This ensured a clean, efficient installation with minimal disruption to college operations.

- Barrier heights from pedestal to 1800mm, adaptable to different security needs.
- Brushed stainless steel enclosure and Black Quartz Corian end caps for concealed or surface-mounted card readers.
- A robust chassis for consistent performance under heavy usage.
