Fastlane Glassgate 150 Plus enhances access control for a leading pension provider
As part of a phased renovation of its main premises, People’s Pension—a leading UK-based pension provider—expanded its operations within the Manhattan Building in Manor Royal, Crawley. This site, already in use for several business functions, saw a significant increase in staff presence and operational activity.
With this shift, a review of security was undertaken, and it was recommended that the organisation introduce a high-security, aesthetically sympathetic entrance control solution that would integrate seamlessly into the building’s premium reception environment, without compromising the integrity of the existing high-end flooring.
Syntinex Ltd was appointed to deliver the solution, partnering with Integrated Design Limited (IDL) to install Fastlane’s Glassgate 150 Plus speedlanes using a bespoke, non-invasive mounting system.
Project requirements
Key drivers for the installation included:
- Increased occupancy & sensitivity: Relocation of staff and business-critical functions to the Manhattan Building demanded tighter access control.
- High security & performance: The solution needed to provide reliable and secure access for authorised personnel and visitors.
- Aesthetic integrity: The entrance control solution had to align with and preserve the reception’s premium finish.
- Non-invasive installation: Protecting the building’s premium flooring was critical—no core drilling could take place.
The solution
Working closely with IDL, Syntinex supplied and installed one set of two and one single Fastlane Glassgate 150 Plus speedlanes. Recognising the need to preserve the high-end flooring, IDL custom-manufactured bespoke floor protectors. These enabled a secure, non-invasive installation that met both aesthetic and structural requirements.
To maintain a continuous and secure barrier line, the system also incorporated custom infill glass panels on either side of the speedlanes – designed to complement the reception layout and maintain visual cohesion.
