Meeting the Brief with Bespoke Security Solutions in Bucharest
OMV Petrom is one of the largest corporations in Romania and is the largest oil and gas producer in Southeast Europe.
The company had very specific entrance security requirements for their headquarters known as PetromCity located in Bucharest, and Fastlane’s adaptable product range met the brief perfectly.
As the installation was for the company’s high-profile HQ, the OMV Petrom team were looking for a solution that would keep the building secure, provide them with visibility of who was entering and leaving the premises while at the same time offer an unobtrusive level of security to promote a welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
Working with Helinick, one of Romania’s leading security integration companies, Fastlane’s Glassgate 155 and Intelligate 300 were specified for the project.
“When discussing the requirements with OMV Petrom, the client needed an entrance control system offering extra-wide lanes and also a solution for a separate part of the building that would fit into a very confined space,” comments Viorel Tules, Sales Manager at Helinick.
“Having worked with Fastlane for many years, we knew that their Glassgate 155 would be one solution as it offers wider lane width options of up to 1200mm. For the area of the building where the space was too small to fit a full pedestal, here we specified the Intelligate 300, a bi-directional motorised access gate which would provide robust security within a compact footprint.”

Stylistically, the Glassgate 155 units are recognisable as a Fastlane product, utilising dual glass barrier panels operating in a bi-directional normally closed mode, but now feature at least 56 concealed optical beams. The concealed optical system allows for a sleeker look with waist height glass barriers and optional locking brakes.
As standard, the Glassgate 155’s enclosure is comprised of stainless steel with a brushed finish and the pedestal top is stainless steel with Black Quartz Corian inserts. But, as with other models in the Fastlane range, options for other materials and finishes are available on request.
Featuring toughened, lockable glass doors (laminated on tall glass products), and available in four height options, the Intelligate 300 acts as an imposing psychological barrier to intruders as well as physically preventing them from gaining unauthorised access. Despite the high security this product offers, the Intelligate 300 still maintains a prestige look and feel, with superior quality Stainless Steel and Corian® feature panels providing a high-quality finish to complement a range of building interiors.
