Wider lane width options with Glassgate range extension

There is a new addition to the Glassgate turnstiles range to enable Fastlane customers to install wider lanes than the standard 660mm and 914mm DDA and ADA compliant lanes that have previously been supplied.

In response to changing regulations, and to meet demand for wider lanes for both pedestrian and wheelchair users’ comfort, IDL has been receiving requests for lane widths up to 1200mm. The first Fastlane to be available in two extended lane width options – 1100mm and 1200mm – the Glassgate 155 ensures that the glass barriers offer the same level of security as the rest of the Glassgate range. IDL has created a product which meets its own stringent requirements and can optionally be fitted with locking brakes for added resistance to ‘push through’.

Introducing the new Glassgate 155

Stylistically, the new Glassgate 155 units are recognisable as a Fastlane product, utilising dual glass barrier panels operating in a bi-directional normally closed mode, but now feature an additional number of concealed optical beams – 56 in total. IDL received requests to remove the beam windows for aesthetic reasons initially but the additional security gained with this design is evident in use.

As standard, the Glassgate 155’s enclosure is comprised of stainless steel with a brushed finish and the pedestal top is stainless steel with Black Quartz Corian inserts to facilitate concealed or surface mounted card readers. But, as with other models in the Fastlane range, options for other materials and finishes are available on request.

The Glassgate 155, like the majority of our range, comes with Fastlane Connect preinstalled allowing the units to be integrated with Fastlane applications, including:

  • FastCam – enabling live video streaming of turnstile use and the capture of recorded security events
  • FastCount – providing real time building population data

Orders are already being taken for the new model and the first installation of Glassgate 155 will take place later this year in a leisure facility in Glasgow, where they will enable simpler access for members using the facilities in sports wheelchairs, which are slightly wider than standard wheelchairs.

If you want to see a live demonstration of the product, it will be launched in the UK on our stand at UK Security Expo next month, 29 – 30 November, 2017 at Olympia, London. Visit stand G46 to see the Glassgate 155 in action.
