Leading
Telecommunications Company Installs Fastlane plus
in Kuwait |
A
leading Kuwaiti Telecommunications Company has recently
completed the installation of Fastlane plus R400
MA turnstiles from Integrated Design Limited. |
| The
design brief was to create a secure work place by limiting
access to the building to authorised staff and visitors,
while complying with the access control laws for disabled
people. As such an access control system and turnstiles
were required. It was intended that a secure perimeter at
all entrances into the building be maintained, whilst creating
the minimum inconvenience to staff and visitors alike.
Kuwait Computer Services (KCS) were brought on board to
recommend a suitable system, after a successful meeting
at Intersec Dubai exhibition 2006 last January. |

Mr
Daniel Van Kerckhove recommended the Fastlane plus
R400 MA, the very latest in high tech entrance control systems,
from Integrated Design Ltd. Fastlane plus is a
state of the art barrier-arm optical turnstile which uses
optical technology to monitor the passage of every individual
entering and leaving the building, and the fast-acting barrier
arms physically deter any unauthorised access. One of the
key features of the R400 MA is the slim pedestal design.
These can be positioned further apart for wheelchair access
without the need for a wider pedestal or a separate gate,
thus complying with disability laws. |
The
small foot print compared to other systems allows the Fastlane
plus to fit into much smaller spaces, which was
also a factor to consider due to the space limitations of
the entrances. |
The
Fastlane turnstiles were combined with a Lenel Access Control
System with HID readers to help prevent the most common
of access control violations such as tailgating, pass-back
and unauthorised entry. |
16
lanes of the Fastlane plus R400 MA units were positioned
around the seven entrances of the building, thereby creating
a secure perimeter and allowing staff and visitors quick
and easy access to the building whichever entrance they
use. |
"We
did considerable research in to the market and Fastlane
plus was the ideal product for this application.
We required a high throughput turnstile to match the fast
acting Lenel system whilst at the same time there was limited
space available in some of the reception areas. Fastlane
plus has the smallest foot print of any speedgate
we came across on the market and its fast acting barriers
arms combined with its advanced intelligence made it the
ideal product. The Fastlane plus speedgates and
Lenel system have been an ideal integration to provide us
a highly secure entrance control system with the ability
to match flow rates demanded by such a busy office building"
Said Daniel Van Kerckhove, from KCS. |
| News
from our US Distributors: Smarter Security |
Smarter
Security Systems, Ltd announced this month that Fastlane
turnstile sales increased 70% in 2006. This growth has been
fueled mainly by the popularity of the Fastlane plus
line, but also from phenomenal interest in last year’s
new Fastlane Glasswing and Fastlane Glassgate barrier models.
President, Jeff Brown noted, “Marketing and sales
efforts account for a lot, but our greatest strength is
in the product itself. Fastlane proves itself time and time
again to our clients and that translates to repeat business
and strong references. Fastlane practically markets itself
after it’s installed with its sleek, streamlined designs
and extremely low maintenance.” |

| New
EAS Mode for Fastlane plus |
|
IDL
were recently contacted by a leading university who
where after an integrated security system to restrict
access to their library to authorised users only and
also to help prevent theft of books from there. |
|
Fastlane
plus was used in conjunction with an access
control system, configured in a card in / free exit
mode, at the entrance to the library thereby limiting
entry to authorised users only. To prevent the theft
of books from the library an EAS system was put in
place. |
The
Fastlane firmware had to be modified to allow the
integration with the EAS tagging system. The system
is configured to work in free exit mode with the barriers
down, however if the EAS system detects a tag that
hasn’t been deactivated the barrier arms on
the relevant lane are raised to stop the person carrying
the item from leaving the library. Additionally the
alarm sounds to alert staff and a relay is activated
to trigger the CCTV system |
As
with the original ‘Normally Open’ mode
which closes on tailgaters and unauthorised entrance
attempts, the ‘EAS mode’ will close on
the detection of an EAS tag in the lane.
The new operating mode now allows Fastlane plus
to be applied to a new range of applications, not
just limited to detecting unauthorised people and
restricting access but also protecting company assets
as well.

the Intersec exhibition, Dubai. Along with the Glasswing
the Fastlane Glassgate and new Fastlane plus W400
MA were on display. The show was a huge success with many
customers dropping by to take a look at the range, keeping
Simon Borns, Jalil Neghza and Michael Bystram very busy
throughout the show. "Having exhibited at Intersec
over the last few years, we have noticed a steady increase
in the interest and demand for Fastlane products, with this
